108 – Emergency Response Service

108 Emergency Response Service is a 24 x 7 emergency service for medical , police and fire emergencies. This service is available in most of the indian states like AP, Gujrat, Uttarkhan, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Assam , Meghalaya, MP, Himachal Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli , diu daman.

This 108 is a toll free number which is accessible from any network on mobile or landline phone connections. It is estimated that the emergency help will reach you on an average of 18 minutes.

This is a similar service like 911 in USA and 112 in Europe.

Process of EMRI

1. Once you call 108 on a relevant emergency, a Communication Officer collects all the facts related to the emergenycy.
2. then a Dispatch Officer scoped the emergency and then assigns strategically located vehicle( police/ambulance/fire).
3. After the information is received by the respective vehicle, the vehicle reaches the site of emergency need.
4. EMT(Emergency Medical Team) provides pre-hospital care while transporting the patient/victim to the appropriate hospital for stabilization under virtual supervision of an Emergency Care Response Physician(ECRP) accessible over a mobile phone.

Always ensure to call 108 only in a serious case where it meets the requirements of the emergency . Do not call them to prank as you never know which minute is needed by those who need this service to survive.
